A valid driver’s license.
A valid official ID (INE or passport).
A credit card (Visa, MasterCard or American Express) issued by banking institutions.
Important: We do not accept credit or debit cards from department stores such as Coppel, Banco Azteca, Liverpool, among others.
Normally, you must be between 25 and 75 years old. However, if you are between 21 and 24 years old, an underage fee applies, and if you are between 76 and 80 years old, a senior age fee applies. No matter your age, we have options for you at Yucatan Vacations!

The security deposit is the amount that is blocked on your credit card (it is not a charge, only a hold) for the duration of your car rental. This deposit is used to cover additional charges such as extra hours, gasoline, or any breach of terms. When the rental is completed, the deposit is released if there are no additional charges.
For security reasons, we do not accept cash deposits. The security deposit must be made with a credit card.
Car rental reservations are made by vehicle category, not by specific model. Each category has similar characteristics such as size and amenities, but the brands and models may vary. The photos you see on our website or in emails are for illustrative purposes only. For example, if you reserve an economy car, we will give you the vehicle available at that time within that category.
In some banking institutions, the process of releasing the deposit can take up to 5 business days. To ensure that the hold is released instantaneously, we make a symbolic charge of 1 cent in Mexican pesos, and with this, the deposit is released automatically.
Definitely! Merida is a large city with moderate but calm traffic. Although there is public transportation in both Merida and the beach area of Progreso, Chelem, and Telchac, renting a car will allow you to enjoy a much more complete and comfortable experience to explore all that Yucatan has to offer.
Your rental rate already includes comprehensive insurance coverage and it is not possible to decline it.
Yes, we offer roadside assistance to all our customers at no additional cost, as long as the failure is due to a mechanical defect related to the normal use of the vehicle. In case of negligence or mishandling, an additional charge may apply.

To confirm your reservation, you need to pay a deposit. You can do this through PayPal, bank deposit to the Yucatan Vacations Car Rental account or by a remote charge to your credit card. Contact us so we can provide you with the information you need!

If you lost your keys or left them in the car, please contact us immediately by call or WhatsApp at +52(999)342.2969. We have duplicates of all vehicle keys and will gladly help you. Please note that sending a locksmith or replacing keys may have an additional cost. If you decide to try to open the car on your own and the vehicle is damaged or altered, it will be considered negligence and you will be responsible for the repair costs.

If you need to cancel your reservation, the reservation deposit will be refunded if you notify us at least 30 days before the start date of your car rental. After this time, the deposit is non-refundable.
Of course! If you have a different preference or need, you can change the vehicle category, as long as there is availability at the time of pickup. You will only have to pay the difference if the rate is higher.
Yes, our rates vary depending on the duration of the rental, category, and rental season. Therefore, if you decide to extend your rental, shorten the agreed time, or change the category of rented car, the rate may be modified.
At Yucatan Vacations Car Rental, you can add up to 2 additional drivers at no extra cost. Both must meet the same requirements as the holder and will have the same responsibilities when driving the vehicle.
Yes! If the contract holder is present when it is signed, you can assign an additional driver. Keep in mind that the holder will be responsible for any additional charges related to the car rental.

Yes! We offer vehicle delivery and return service to your home in the city of Merida and the beach area between Chelem, Chuburna, Progreso and Telchac, subject to availability. Depending on the time and location, this service may have an additional cost.
Don’t worry! We offer after-hours delivery and return services, subject to availability and for an additional cost, to make your experience as comfortable as possible.
Of course! You can return the vehicle at another branch at no additional cost if the rental is for a minimum of 2 days. This service will have an additional cost for shorter rentals.
It is very important that you let us know about any delay. If you don’t return the vehicle within 3 days after the return date and don’t inform us about the status and location of the vehicle, we’ll have to report it to the authorities. Yucatan Vacations Car Rental won’t be responsible in that case.

Coverage and Car Rental Insurance in Merida and Progreso, Yucatan

Coverages could be invalidated if the driver is under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any toxic substance or if negligence is committed or the terms and conditions of the contract are not respected.
Yes! You can add additional coverage after signing the contract, as long as the vehicle hasn’t left the branch yet.

Extra Charges:
Are there additional charges that could be applied at the end of my rental?
Yes, at the end of your rental, there might be some additional charges if certain situations occur, such as:
– Extra hours. The daily rental rate is calculated per 24 hours with a 45-minute grace period at no cost on return. If you exceed the return time, you’ll have to pay for up to 3 extra hours, each at 25% of the original rate. If you incur a fourth hour, you’ll be charged for a full extra rental day.
– Missing gasoline
– Additional days
– Return to a different branch or off hours
– Loss of license plate
– Excessive cleaning. This applies when the car is returned excessively dirty, for example, with a lot of sand inside or with stains that are difficult to remove inside or outside the vehicle. It also applies if the car has a strong odor indicating dirt or that someone smoked inside.
– Vehicle damage
– Traffic fines
– Key replacement
– Cancellation of coverages for not respecting the terms and conditions of the contract.
